Midsummer Horoscopes ~ LEO

So here we are.

At 11:30 am PST, Saturday July 30th, the Moon and Sun converged into a New Moon in the fire sign of Leo ~ giving us a new cycle of growth over the next 30 days. Leo is a sign concerned with POWER. It's a fixed sign, which means it can stubbornly refuse to budge from it's position. Also, Leo seeks the limelight - it's the sign most associated with theater. I saw it playing out in Washington all last week.
 
It's interesting that this debt ceiling debate is happening now. Leo is the sign of the wise and gentle ruler who leads with his or her heart. The leader who puts the concerns of the people above all else. But instead our country is being held hostage by power plays and greed.

I was happy to hear about the religious leaders that gathered on Capitol Hill to pray on Friday! They were arrested of course. They gathered to protest cuts to programs that would help the poor:

From the NY Times:  "Religious and civic leaders from around the country were arrested in the U.S. Capitol today in an act of civil disobedience to protest drastic cuts contained in a Republican bill now before the House. The leaders first met with Congresswoman Chellie Pingree before Pingree escorted them to the Capitol Rotunda, where they were arrested while praying.
After the arrest, Pingree spoke on the House floor, saying that the religious and civic leaders who had been arrested were speaking for working class families.
"They were praying for the millions of Americans who don't have high priced lobbyists to protect them," Pingree said.  "They were praying for the families who find it harder and harder to afford basics like groceries and heat and gas for their cars--not the millionaires and big oil companies whose tax breaks are protected in this bill."


Anyhow, enough politics and onto the New Moon! The next two weeks will be a great time to let your light shine and be creative. Some of your plans might be delayed though due to the Mercury Retrograde beginning Tuesday. The Mercury Retrograde lasts from August 2nd through August 26th.

Aries:  The Ram 

The New Moon shines in your House of Romance! It's twice as lucky for love since Venus is there too. Opportunities come through socializing. If you're unattached you might find a new love this week. Personal insights come through your romantic relationships OR creative endeavors! The Mercury Retrograde might bring old lovers back into your life, but it's usually to clear the air and get some resolution. 


Taurus:   The Bull

You will receive insight and positive direction regarding your home life over the next few weeks. The Sun and Venus (a fabulous duo) are joining you in the places where you spend most of your time. Look for fortunate circumstances and harmonious social opportunities occurring in your home life and community. The only smudge on your plans is the Mercury Retrograde in the same area. The luck still exists it just might need some negotiation or coaxing.

Gemini:  The Twins 

It's all about communication and learning for you this month. Your self expression will be in full bloom over the next several weeks. People will be receptive to your ideas, but remember to listen to others as well. Mercury (your ruler) is going Retrograde in the same spot, giving your path some twists and turns. Follow truth and reality and you'll be fine. Be honest, clear and truthful in negotiations with people this month. 


Cancer:  The Crab 

We're going to call you Lucky for the next few weeks! The Sun and Venus are traveling through your Money House bringing all kinds of opportunities your way! Leo:  The Lion

Perhaps some insights are coming up about identity. You're the birthday kid so make some wishes. Whatever you want CAN HAPPEN, so try to set a positive tone for the next year.

Virgo:  The Virgin 
The Sun is traveling through your House of Self Undoing for the next few weeks. This could bring revelations on how you've REALLY outgrown some of your habits. Are you ready to make some deep changes? It's high time to let go of things that no longer serve you, so you can experience a rebirth when your birthday comes around next month. Capricorn:  The Sea Goat

The Lion - Summer horoscopes 2010

Yay it's SUMMER and time for Leo the Lion!

Well... that's IF you're outside of San Francisco. Our summer doesn't come for a couple of months and it's been FREEZING here!

In the world of astrology this is already an eventful season. The Sun is in Leo  and the Moon full in Aquarius yesterday. We had two eclipses last month alongside a Grand Cross; and there's the entrance of Uranus into Aries and Saturn into Libra! The planet Uranus (sudden events, originality and revolution) has been in Pisces for the last 7 years. The shift from dreamy, imaginative Pisces to the fiery, spontaneous sign of Aries is a MAJOR shift in our lives and culture. Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) followed Uranus into Aries last month assuring a smooth passage for us all.

Meanwhile Saturn (maturity, time, dedication) has been in Virgo for the past 2 years, and as of last Wednesday has entered Libra. There's a new seriousness to relationships. Commitment and reliability are on everyone's radar for the next 2 years. There are HUGE forces at play here that will affect all of us, and these giant shifts are ushering us towards the grandest event of all - the line up of all the planets in December 2012!

     As for the Revolution on your doorstep... Uranus (sudden, transformative and shocking events) is retrograding through your sign for the next month causing you to retool some of your wild ideas. It's a great time to clarify your vision and the practical steps to manifesting it.

Taurus:  The Bull

     You will have lots of "me" time around your house over the next month (Sun in Leo), along with some pleasant experiences with Love and Creativity (Venus in your 5th House). Mercury, your ruler, is currently gliding through this House preparing the way for the Sun. Time to clear the air and set boundaries with people! Mars in Virgo creates an opportunity to do some psychological healing on yourself - to clear the weeds from the ground of your being.

     The Uranian shift into Aries highlights your social life for the next several years! You will be hanging around the fringes of society with very original and empowered people. Virgo:  The Virgin

Mars will be joining Saturn in Libra on July 29th giving new energy and focus to your financial life. Uranus and Jupiter will take a brief break starting in August, but will reenter your House of Love early next year. So 2011 should be great for you. It's a powerful omen for finding true love. Jupiter is also your ruler, so wherever he travels holds a lot of significance in your life.
     The other big event is Saturn's entrance into Libra, your House of Friendships. For the next couple of years your closest relationships will undergo some reality testing. You will learn who you can truly count on. This energy also applies to people you know in your community and work life.

Capricorn:  The Goat

     Saturn, your ruler has just entered Libra - your House of Career. It's the most public area of your chart and will undergo a huge structural change over the next two years.      There was Full Moon last night in Aquarius - it's the brightest moon of the year! The Full Moon in your sign shines the spotlight directly on you and your relationships. Since Aquarius and Leo are fixed signs, I hope you didn't encounter any stubbornness with people in your life. With "fixed" signs people often hold tightly to what they want or believe and will not budge. This was also influenced by a stand off this morning between two heavyweights - Saturn and Uranus. This opposition affected your Communications (3rd house) and Beliefs (9th house). It's best to be diplomatic for the next couple of days until these influences pass over.
     Your ruler, Uranus, has gone through an extraordinary transition last month - leaving Pisces for Aries. This shift will light a fire under you, and bring a huge amount of confidence, optimism and ambition to your usually peaceful and humanitarian perspectives.
