New Moon in Taurus

We made it through a Full Moon Eclipse and a Grand Cross in April, and now we emerge renewed!

Tonight is a New Moon in Taurus. This ushers in a time of crystallization and stability from the huge upheaval and growth of the last few weeks.

Aries:  The Ram

Your solar return (birthday) is over for another year Aries! Your ruler, Mars, is about to go Direct after MONTHS of second guessing in Libra. Lots of energy will be available to you! Wait until May 20 to charge forth into new ideas and projects. With the Sun's entrance into Taurus, it's time to get down to brass tacks... especially tacking money to your wall.

Taurus:  The Bull

The Sun in your sign makes you shine! Your Ruler, Venus, is in Pisces giving you enhanced sensitivity and creativity, and Mercury in Taurus helps you get your ideas across to people. With Pluto in Capricorn trining the Sun, you can make huge evolutionary strides right now!  Deep cathartic change will beam to your Sun from Pluto in Capricorn. You might look and feel completely different when the Sun leaves your sign May 20th.

Gemini:  The Twins

From now until June is preparation time for your birthday. The Taurean Sun will send bright light to the dusty corridors of your mind, bringing fresh air to perspectives you've outgrown. We all know how sociable you are, but give yourself some moments of solitude in the upcoming weeks. Long walks on hillsides contemplating your life and direction will recharge your batteries. Your ruling planet, Mercury, is currently in earthy Taurus. So while the Sun is lighting things up, Mercury will be helping you crystallize your ideas.

Cancer:  The Crab

You will have a very easy time over the next month. The Taurus action will be affecting your 11th House of Friendships and community. Lots of possibilities for socializing and career will be popping up all over the place. On top of that you have Jupiter raining good luck and prosperity down on you until July! Now is the time to go for it and take risks.

Leo:  The Lion

The Lion is one of the most ambitious signs of the zodiac, and over the next two months opportunities will abound in your professional life. Plus Jupiter (good fortune) is entering LEO in July for a two year stay. This summer you will shine brighter than ever! Also, Uranus (sudden surprises) will be trining Jupiter giving you gifts of revelation, understanding and Buddha wisdom. Now is the time to wrap up loose ends and decide where you want to launch yourself on your upcoming birthday.

Virgo:  The Virgin

This month you are rocking it! You have the Sun and Mercury in Taurus sending you light, clarity and focus, and Pluto in Capricorn supporting your evolution. It's a great time to forge new bonds with people and pursue opportunities. Do some journaling and meditation because the revelations about your life will come thick and fast! A transformative couple of months directly ahead.

Libra:  The Scales

A huge growth period began in early December last year when Mars entered Libra.  You've had to be strategic with your energy for months now. In late May Mars will move forward in your sign unleashing tons of energy for you. You can finally make a lot of progress. In the meantime, Mercury in Taurus will put your focus on work situations and the evaluation of agreements with others.

Scorpio:  The Scorpion

When the Sun goes into Taurus, like it's doing now, the spotlight shines on Scorpio's relationships. The focus becomes the "other" - our romantic relationships and friendships as well. Jupiter (planet of good fortune) is also moving through Cancer, our house of Life Perspective. Now is the time to solidify an existing relationship, or to get out and socialize more

Sagittarius:  The Archer

Jupiter is your ruler and symbolizes good fortune and prosperity. He is currently lighting up your House of Other People's Money. YES you guessed it, that's super good news for you! Plus Mercury and the Sun are lighting up your House of Work and Habits which is more good news. It's a great time to figure out how your energy can best be focused and then setting a new schedule to make it happen. Sagittarians love to set goals - now is the time to do some research and groundwork because next month will be all about Love.

Capricorn:  The Goat

With Mercury and the Sun in Taurus, you are inspired to pay some attention to your romantic life. And with Jupiter (good fortune) in your partnership house, you are meeting all types of helpful people as well as finding big opportunities!
Meanwhile you still have a powerful friend by your side for the next 10 years, and that friend is the planet Pluto. The last time Pluto entered Capricorn it was the birth of our nation, so this is a revolutionary time indeed! You are going through a deep evolutionary change regarding how you envision yourself.

Aquarius:  The Water Bearer

Your ruler, Uranus is in Aries and has been stirring stuff up BIG TIME for the last month. Are you feeling more forceful, assertive and spontaneous? Your highly attuned Aquarian synapses are shooting off new inventions and unorthodox ideas with lightning speed.
With Mercury currently in Taurus, with the Sun, it's a great time for you to take a practical look at your living arrangements. Take stock and implement changes where necessary. This will be going on through May.

Pisces:  The Fishes

Well the heavens have a special gift for you right now - Venus AND Neptune in your sign! This makes you immensely popular, intuitive and artistic. You are capable of writing full symphonies now instead of your usual little sing-a-longs. Jupiter (good fortune) in Cancer is also sending you expansive positive vibes! And Saturn in Scorpio helps you REALLY manifest your lovely visions. You are a force to be reckoned with - especially through June.

Tonight's Blood Moon Eclipse

Tonight at 11:30pm Pacific the skies will present a dramatic event - a Full Red Moon sailing overhead. It should be visible just about everywhere too. This is the first of four eclipses occurring over the next year - all in the signs of Libra and Aries. They are in accordance with the nodes of the Moon which are stimulating our relations with others and diminishing our need "to go it alone".

AND Mars will also be closest to the Earth tonight! In fact it should appear as a bright red star next to the Moon. This is the closest Mars has been to the Earth since January 2008 and will be at it's brightest. Personally, I'm a Scorpio and I dig the color red, so I'm looking forward to this tonight.

The Full Moon tonight occurs in the sign of Libra which symbolizes relationships and partnerships of all kinds - professional and personal. If there is some unresolved issue or tension that needs to be expressed, expect it to come up this week. It's a wonderful time to clear the air. But with Mars there, watch out for aggression and anger. The key to this Full Moon is DIPLOMACY and restoring BALANCE - key traits of the sign Libra. There's a feeling of fate and inspiration with relationships this month.

Unleash your assertive Martian drive on making your life better and helping others. Mars has strong convictions and wants things to happen NOW, while Libra inspires us to work together for the greater good of all.

And then there's the other thing - the Grand Cross on April 22 which really stirs the pot. The cross is formed by Pluto's opposition to Jupiter and Uranus's opposition to Mars. These are huge heavyweights in the sky which will ignite the events and timing in your life to enhance your evolution. You can come quietly or sit in resistance but change is happening either way. Best to embrace it! If you need a reading or healing I'm here :)

Pluto: Evolutionary change, catalyst in Capricorn: Hard work, ambition, (and the wealthy)
opposing...
Jupiter: Expansion, Philanthropy, Optimism in Cancer: Fertility, Nurturing, Home

Uranus: Sudden Change, Invention, eccentricity in Aries: Spontaneity, Drive, Egoism
opposing...
Mars: DRIVE, aggression, war, anger, courage in Libra: relationships, balance, harmony

...what a mess

It will be interesting how this effects each of us individually. Here's something I wrote about eclipses from 2011:

When the World falls under the influence of an eclipse, things are out of the ordinary. It's an uncommon time, and we have rare and insightful experiences. It's like walking around your darkened bedroom with a black light - things show up differently, and we see things in a way we don't normally see them. Some things are brighter and easier to see and some things fall into shadow.

Quite simply, I feel it is a time when we touch the foundations of why we are here on this planet. Each of us gains some new insight or information into the life we are currently leading. This information can come through anything - our family, friends, a situation at work, or a bolt of lightning straight from the heavens into our consciousness. When it's an eclipse, I always pay close attention to what happens that day, because there will be something synchronistic about it.

Mars bright in the sky tonight!

Mars will be in opposition to the Sun tonight making it shine brightly in the sky. Look for a huge reddish star rising after the Moon. You could almost call it a "Full Mars" instead of a "Full Moon" because it's kind of the same thing. When the Moon is full it's because it's directly opposite the Sun and is completely illuminated by the Sun - this will happen tonight with the planet Mars.

Astrologically we are waxing towards a Full Moon in Libra next week which will set off a huge Grand Cross in the sky. Try to wrap stuff up emotionally charged stuff THIS week if you can. Next week could be volatile.

From Astronomy.com

Tuesday, April 8
Mars lies opposite the Sun in our sky today and reaches its peak visibility for 2014. The Red Planet appears low in the east as darkness falls and grows more prominent as the evening wears on and it climbs higher. By 1 a.m. local daylight time, it stands halfway to the zenith in the southern sky. Mars lies among the background stars of central Virgo, 7° north-northwest of that constellation’s brightest star, 1st-magnitude Spica. The planet shines at magnitude –1.5, some 10 times brighter than the star. In fact, Mars hasn’t been this bright since December 2007. When viewed through a telescope, the planet’s ocher-colored disk spans 15" and shows significant detail. The most obvious feature should be the white north polar cap. Learn more about observing the Red Planet with "Explore Mars this month."

The Moon reaches apogee, the farthest point in its orbit around Earth, at 10:52 a.m. EDT. It then lies 251,344 miles (404,500 kilometers) from Earth’s center.
